TAN SRI DR NOOR HISHAM CLOCKS IN AT UCSI OFFICIALLY

PORT DICKSON, 4 October 2023 - Former Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah clocked in officially at UCSI Hospital today and detailed plans to make UCSI one of Malaysia’s top private hospitals.

Meeting the Hospital staff for the first time as UCSI Healthcare Group chairman, Dr Noor Hisham said that UCSI had great potential and he was excited by a new challenge.

“Joining an established healthcare group is easy but my contributions at UCSI Hospital would be far more impactful,” he said during his welcoming ceremony.

UCSI has firm foundations and the conditions are in place for us to make a huge difference in healthcare.

“We will work to establish UCSI as a preferred brand in healthcare that offers world-class clinical service delivery. Let’s make the impossible possible.”

Dr Noor Hisham also outlined a five-year strategic plan for the Hospital that revolves around clinical service delivery, medical education and international medical research.

This would see UCSI focusing more on some of its many specialisms, standing out as a hub of medical aggregation and making a strong case to be a platform for clinical trials.

He added that UCSI would also engage the public sector in a bid to reduce congestion at nearby public hospitals.

Dr Noor Hisham also paid tribute to the late Senior Prof Dato’ Dr Khalid Yusoff who served as UCSI University vice-chancellor.

“He set many things in place and the Hospital is a fitting tribute to his detailed and meticulous planning,” he said.

UCSI Group founder and executive chairman Dato’ Peter Ng and UCSI Group CEO Prof Datuk Dr Siti Hamisah Tapsir were present during the ceremony.

Welcoming Dr Noor Hisham to UCSI, Ng said that UCSI Healthcare was privileged to have a public servant of the highest order as its chairman.

“Dr Noor Hisham was the face of Malaysia’s pandemic response and I’m sure all of us remember his exemplary leadership, his calming presence and his fidelity to facts and science.

“We will all benefit from his wealth of experience and I look forward to working closely with him.”

Dr Noor Hisham joins UCSI on the back of 35 years of public service. He served as director-general for a decade.
